Your first week on Musuni: brand new artist
By Friday you have a press kit, an artist page, a first week of posts scheduled, and a release date to aim at, with no streaming numbers needed.
What this gets you
Nothing of yours is on streaming yet, so none of this week depends on numbers. You build the things every artist needs before their first release: somewhere to send people, something to send a venue, and a habit of posting.
When to use it
Follow this if you have no music on Spotify yet, or none that Musuni can find. The moment your first release goes live and your Spotify profile is connected, move to the Spotify-only week. Skip this if you already have a catalog on streaming.
Do it
- Build your press kit. It is what you send when someone asks "send me something", and writing it forces you to decide what you sound like. Build your press kit
- Create your artist page. One link for your bio, your socials, your shows and your mailing list, live before you need it. Set up your artist page
- Tell Manny who your music is for. With no listener data to read, what you tell him about your audience is the only thing making his advice yours. Teach Manny about you
- Get a read on your strongest song. Before you spend a release on it, find out what is working, what to fix and who it is for. Get honest feedback on a song
- Set your release date. A date turns a vague plan into a countdown, and every step after this is timed from it. Set your release date
- Schedule your first week of posts. Posting consistently is the one growth lever that works with zero listeners, and scheduling it removes the daily decision. Plan and schedule your content
- Connect Spotify the day your release lands. That is what brings your catalog in and switches your analytics on. Connect your accounts
Let Manny do it
Say "how do I get started without Spotify?". He knows you have no streaming data and will steer you to uploads, your press kit, your page and content rather than sending you at an empty analytics screen.
Useful openers: "Help me plan my first release", "What do I need for my first release?", "Set up my press kit", "Create my artist page".
What it cannot do
- Analytics stays empty until your music is on streaming and has real listener activity. There is no way to fill it early, and an empty screen is not a fault.
- Musuni does not distribute your music to Spotify or Apple Music. A distributor does that, and your release date here is a plan, not a delivery.
- Curator pitching, venue campaigns and ads are not for this week. Every one of them is judged on traction you do not have yet, so they would mostly buy you rejections.
- Song feedback is a read, not a verdict. It tells you what tends to work; it cannot tell you whether people will love the song.
- Your page and press kit only work if you put them in your bios and send them. Making them is half the job.
